The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has called upon the recently inaugurated board of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria to uphold principles of integrity, honesty, transparency, and fairness in their professional endeavors.
Dangiwa delivered this directive during the formal induction ceremony of the 10th constituted Board of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria. This board serves as the regulatory body for quantity surveyors, operating under the supervision of the Minister of Housing and Urban Development.
Comprising 15 members, the board includes six appointees from the ministry, five representatives from the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, and four appointees from higher education institutions, as stipulated by relevant sections of the Act.
Highlighting the significance of their appointment, Dangiwa emphasized the board's pivotal role in addressing housing sector challenges, aligning with the objectives set forth by President Bola Tinubu. He outlined the board's responsibilities, which encompass setting standards for quantity surveyors' knowledge and skills, as well as regulating and overseeing the quantity surveying profession comprehensively.

Instructing the board members to familiarize themselves with their duties as outlined in the QSRBN Act, Dangiwa stressed the importance of leveraging their expertise to mitigate the high costs associated with construction projects and procurement nationwide. He underscored the construction sector's crucial role in driving employment and economic growth.
In response, Obafemi Onashile, speaking on behalf of the new board, affirmed their commitment to impartiality and collaboration with the Federal Government, the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, and other stakeholders. He assured adherence to the QSRBN Act in their duties, pledging to enhance the quantity surveying profession's impact on the country's economy through effective collaboration and informed decision-making.
